300

Alright I saw this movie last Friday and I am putting in my two cents.
In three simple words I loved 300!
It was fantastic. The imagery was amazing, the story was inspiring and yes the men were bloody hot- though to be honest that is not the main reason I like it, as most of my friends might attest to, I'm not into such buff bodies- at the same time, it's nice to look at, not going to lie.
After hearing all the fuss around the movie in terms of the politics of it I have to say people- just relax already. Ok so it's not completely historically factual, the directors never claimed it to be- "The film's director Zack Snyder states that 'The events are 90 percent accurate. It's just in the visualization that it's crazy.... I've shown this movie to world-class historians who have said it's amazing. They can't believe it's as accurate as it is.' He continues that the film is 'an opera, not a documentary.'" Basically I'm just so tired of this society being so overly politically correct. It's based on a true story, it happened, the Spartans lead the fight against the Persians and really whooped their ass (for 3 days at least) then whooped their ass with other Greek armies 1 yr later. I'm sure it was not meant to be a comment on the present situation in Iran. I will admit that perhaps the timing of its release is not the best, but then why should we fear that we are going to hurt some people's feelings. I did not coming out of the theatre even thinking that the Persia portrayed in 300 was similar to the Iran of today. Perhaps if people are able to draw parallels to the present day situation then they need to start considering the reality that history is repeating itself with far scarier ramifcations and consequences (ie Nuclear war).
It's an interesting movie, visually appealing, and very well done. To be honest, I had wanted to see it before all this hype, but after all this stupidity I just had an increased desire to go see it. Again and again and again.
